The RoughWheelers IV Wheel Drive Club 4×4
Members present: Sam, Kevin, John, Doug, Joe, Cole, Dennis, Randy and Diane, Ses, Ryan (almost), Robert and Cristin, perspective member Don.Kevin, John and I met at the famous old watering hole Big 5 in Redondo Beach. We headed towards the trailhead at around 6:45 and were joined by Dennis after we hit the 605. We made it to the trail had on the eastern side of the trail by about 8:30 and others started arriving in the next few minutes. Joe, Randy and Diane camped out Friday night and looked none the worse for the experience. As we waited for everyone to show up there was a club of very noisy foreign sports cars doing time trials on the curve after the turn off for the trailhead. We challenged them to races as long as we got to pick the course but there were no takers. Last to arrive was Ryan but we heard him from a quarter mile away with what we thought was a loose fan belt but after he got parked and the hood up his brand new compressor had fried its bearing and howled like a wounded Banshee! Ryan decided to try and limp home and after some radio confusion a drivers meeting was had and 11 vehicles hit the road by about 9:20 with Joe leading and Randy as Tail gun Charley. We had a very diverse group of Jeeps, Toyotas, Fords and even a full-size Dodge truck. Our Wagon master and Dodge truck stuck to the main trail and the rest took many of the more difficult side trails with a lot of getting out and examining the best line of attack and there were no mishaps, stuck vehicles or disasters but there were some difficult spots that got applause from the audience!By 11:00 we had made the halfway point called the Punch Bowl where we stopped and had lunch with some great views of Silverwood Lake in the distance. After lunch we made our way down the trail sticking mostly to the main trail and arrived at the I15 by 3:00 to air up, say your farewells and head into the drizzle back in Los Angeles.;Network & Infrastructure
