Fly on the Wall, Not in Your Soup – Accounts & Cooking Endeavors Inspired by the Navy SEAL Caterer

When the days were grim, I seemed to miss out on the subtle hints of synchronicity that life was trying to reveal to me. I realized that when the fog was gone during much happier times, I used to notice concurrent events happening often, especially when I was in college (see Finish Line). I would find myself in strange circumstances where funny things would happen “coincidentally,” and I would write it off as just that, a mere coincidence.At this point in my life, I don’t believe in coincidences anymore, but it took me some living to understand why not.After I read Many Lives, Many Masters, as I mentioned in ButterFLY on the Wall, and I told people about it, they were more receptive than I thought… it seemed to open new doors.I also started having more soothsayer moments— one “soothsayer” recommended I see a medium. This was odd, considering who it came from.1I ended up seeing a medium2 and when my mother-in-law found out I had a medium-session, she pulled out some books to give to me. They were Sylvia Brown books. Sylvia Brown was a celebrity psychic-medium and author.3With this, I started reading her books, which led to other books, which led to new ideologies, which led to looking for more signs, etc. It gave me a whole different outlook, but since it was way out my norm and I was still on an emotional rollercoaster, I was still skeptical about how magical most of it sounded. I mean, I was having some magical moments, such as the monarch butterflies (Monarch of Death), but it wasn’t enough. I almost thought, at times, I must be delusional. I’m just manipulating what I want to see.But then there were some additional incidents that came along that were all too concurrent not to happen by design, like the fact that Jorge showed up into my life and happened to meet my dad the very same day Dad showed concerning symptoms for the first time (see Davey at the Bat).There were also paranormal incidents happening at the house, indicating Dad was present with us after death, like when Jorge got down on one knee in our backyard to propose to me and the patio loveseat moved as if someone had sat down to watch the scene. No one (physical) was near the loveseat and there was not even the slightest bit of a breeze at that time. The way the seat clambered and moved was as if Dad had sat down in his favorite spot he always sat in when he was alive. I wouldn’t have believed it, but three of us witnessed it and couldn’t find any other explanation.And there were other indications. I often second-guessed them, but something or someone was communicating with me, trying to tell me something. At this time, I was starting to realize there are no coincidences, and there is meaning to everything. I was starting to understand how little I understood in the past and how much more I had to learn. I was being humbled, and it was time to start paying attention to the world outside of myself.One of the books that stemmed from the others above, and came from my friend Marlena (see Marlena’s Turkey Burgers), was one entitled,Signs: The Secret Language of the Universe by Laura Lynne Jackson.4 In it, Jackson states: “Signs come in many forms… and there would be more to come. I just had to keep my heart open to it.”Luckily, I did…When You Least Expect ItJorge and I took a Princess Cruise to Mexico on December 30, 2017 until January 6, 2018. This was Jorge’s first cruise and although cruising isn’t for everyone, I had a feeling it was for Jorge and he was going to love it. Growing up, I had the fortune of accompanying my Grandma Sheila, the travel agent, on multiple cruises. I was excited to get a nostalgic feeling for cruising again. Grandma and I always had epic trips together. I wanted to relive those sensations on the open water, as well as share a taste of the finer things in life my husband had not yet been introduced to.One of the excursions on the trip was a SCUBA dive in Cabo San Lucas. We had been Open Water Certified and since then, diving has been a must anywhere that has swimmable waters. The excursion for the cruise was fantastic, since we tendered to dock, then literally walked less than 10 yards across the dock to catch our diving boat. We found out we only had two other divers in our group, which was also a plus, and our guide was a gal around my age, named Elizabeth— easy enough to remember.The first dive was at Pelican Rock. We descended into the Sea of Cortez and swam around a cluster of rocks to find a white tip reef shark hovering above the sandy bottom. I remember the shark looking a little longer than me, but slimmer (in my head this made it less intimidating for some reason). Jorge and I were both breathing more rapidly than usual, but I realized, I didn’t feel an ounce of fear in the presence of this shark. It was more of an exhilarating feeling.Jorge and I grabbed each other’s hand and settled on the sand to admire the docile creature. I was then able to look into the shark’s eyes and give a consensual agreement of respect.Time froze. When time seemed to thaw out, more divers from the opposite side approached and scared off Mr. Shark. We continued on our dive path, following our guide, and to be honest, until Jorge was almost out of air, I don’t remember much else about this particular dive. Jorge went up before I did, since he’s more of what we refer to as an “air hog” than I am. I had about 1200 PSI to his 300. After Jorge resurfaced, the guide continued along and out came Mr. Shark again. The same one from before. He swam by, and I swear to you he waved his tail at me to say farewell.When I ascended out of the water, I saw Jorge jumping around the boat in an anxious movement, similar to a tyke performing the universally known ‘pee-pee dance.’“Are you ok?” I asked.“I couldn’t wait for you to get back! Guess what the shark’s name was?” Jorge tap danced across the deck to get to me as I climbed the ladder to strip off my gear.“I don’t know… Jorge?” I guessed, pronouncing the Spanish version of the name, rather than the Portuguese version possessed by my husband.“No, you’re not going to believe me. Let me have the photographer tell you what it is.”Jorge pulled me over to the diving photographer. “Tell her the name of the shark we saw!”The photographer looked spooked. I think Jorge’s excitement intimidated him, but he proceeded, “There are two sharks we see down there. One is Oscar and the other is Dave. The one you saw today was Dave.”My body went numb. My face tingled. My jaw dropped. I looked at Jorge with eyes the shape of saucers.The shark’s name was Dave.Dave the Shark.WHAT?!!! If I didn’t knock you down with a feather, then let’s rewind for a second.There was something I didn’t mention yet…My mom and I met with a medium, who I was referred to through a dear friend of mine in New York, named Jenna. Our session was back in 2016 and in it, the medium told us Dave would give a sign. It would be in the form of a shark and I quote: “This guy is not just going to show you the sign, where a feather is going to fall. He wants to be in it.”Signs, Signs, Everywhere There’s Signs Ok, let’s recap:Dad’s name is DaveDave is not what you would consider a typical Mexican/Spanish nameDad took this same cruise about 10 years ago himself and also did a diving excursionThis was the first shark I have ever encountered under water (that I’m aware of at least)Oh yeah, did I point out that the tour guide was also named Elizabeth?And HELLO!! Above all, the medium predicted this two years prior!!1I scribed out the medium’s prediction from the recording I took. This session took place on September 14, 2016 through Skype. The medium, Robin Mueller, was in Scarsdale, New York and we were in San Bruno, California. [47:40] He’s going to show that he’s with you when you go to the water— is there a shark around there? I have no idea what that means? So, do you walk on the beach? Who’s walking on the beach? Do you ever see a shark there? [I responded that the only shark I saw as of recently was on the news at Pacifica Pier] You saw it on the news? I’m fine with it. He’s referencing the seven,5 walking on the beach, he’s going to show you a sign and he’s going to show you a shark when you’re near the water. We’re in a different time zone here. We’re in a physical time zone, they’re not in a physical time zone. I’ll leave it to you if this is something in the future or if something you saw or heard that prompts you to know he’s with you. That’s kind of how this works. I hate to lose anything, so I want it to be both. Keep an eye out when you’re on the beach near the water for a shark, because he says he’s going to show you a sign. This guy is not just going to show you a sign, where a feather is going to fall. He’s wants to be in it. He wants to be in it. [49:05- END].The dive with Dave the Shark took place on January 4, 2018.6After Jorge shared the news about the shark’s name being Dave, I spread Dad’s ashes in the Sea of Cortez to celebrate this amazing moment showing us he is still with us in spirit everywhere we go.We then made it to our second dive at Land’s End, where we descended into the Sea of Cortez, swam through a San Andreas Fault line, where we were regaled with sea lions dancing in their sanctuary. We ended our journey in the Pacific Ocean next to a shipwreck, but I had already found my treasure. A sign from Dad is worth more than all the treasures in the world to me. I hope I am able to see him in his many forms more often. It was a beautiful dive and one of the best days of all time.1. My friend Jenna told me about a medium who claimed to communicate with angels. She had a friend who also lost a parent and had asked Jenna to go with her for moral support. Jenna, who avoids these situations like the plague, ended up enjoying the session better than the gal who booked it. She was so impressed with the medium, she recommended I book a session, as well, in hopes that it would help me get some answers and feel better.2. You may not be into this, but it helped me. If you do consider seeing a medium or something similar, make sure to get personal referrals.3. One of the books my mother-in-law, Maria, gave me was personally autographed by Sylvia Browne. I found out that Maria, along with my father-in-law and my husband had met her at a party she threw, which included another famous guest, Montel Williams. My husband, Jorge, used to be Ms. Browne’s contractor, and the family were all invited to her house for a celebration. Sylvia Browne was considered controversial at the time. Psychic-mediums were taboo, and may still be, but I think society has eased up a little more on the idea of seeing psychics and mediums, just like they’ve eased up on the idea of therapy. Either way, it all worked well with my situation to have an open mind to lead me to some positive outlooks and experiences I otherwise would not have had.4. In the book Signs by Laura Lynne Jackson, there is a passage that struck me. She put into words what I was feeling:“Through signs, our loved ones can be much better communicators than they ever were on earth. My father has become the chattiest soul in the universe! In many very real ways, he is more present for me now than he was before.“My father helped me understand that we need to open our minds and our hearts fully to receiving these powerful messages. It was only when I went through the traumatic process of losing a parent myself that I truly realized how hard it was, and how important these signs could be— if we allowed them to sink in. From the Other Side, he became not only my protector but also my teacher. We were not done with each other. Our relationship continues to grow and evolve.“It wasn’t too late for my father and me, because it never is.“It is never too late to heal and grow the relationships you have with your loved ones who have crossed.”5. “He’s referencing the seven…” To this day I was trying to figure out what this meant from one of the medium’s clues…6. I have also been into numerology as of more recent years; the Universe uses numbers as a language, as well. Dad is always sending me 56 (year he was born, along with other personal significance). I read this book on numerology and “angel numbers” if you are interested: The Mysterious Language of Numerology & Angel Numbers: How to Interpret Yourself, Your Relationships, Your Soul, and Your Hidden Future Through Numbers by Charlie Emerson. But I think I may have just figured out what the “He’s referencing the seven” comes from after looking at the date we took the dive: January 4, 2018. When you add up the individual digits from the date and reduce them to one number, it equals SEVEN!!!I think I cracked the code!!Here is the breakdown:January (first month of the year) = 1, Day = 4, Year = 2 + 0 + 1 + 8Altogether, you have: 1 + 4 + 2 + 0 + 1 + 8 = 16 1 + 6 = 7If you’re confused, google “numerology” or refer to the book mentioned above (or any of the many) for more info;
