← Older posts Join the Nationwide Strike on Friday! Posted on January 29, 2026 by Elise Thompson We can’t all fight on the front lines or bite agent’s fingers off. But you can protest this Friday by doing absolutely nothing. Call out from work. Do not shop. Don’t go out to eat. Do not contribute to the economy at all. Horrors after horrors keep coming, and this is the least we can do. People are being chased into traffic, and shot point-black. People are being dragged from their homes and cars and put on planes to foreign countries. ICE doesn’t even let them prove they are citizens. Children and babies in Texas are being laid down on thin blankets on cement. This is beyond cruel. Show them we have the power to shut it all down!!! This free event features complimentary scoops of Jeni’s x Bridgerton‘s outstanding new Regency-inspired ice cream flavor, Queen Charlotte Sponge Cake, along with a special musical performance from Vitamin String Quartet. One of the most popular contemporary string quartets in the world, Vitamin String Quartet’s music has been featured on Netflix’s “Bridgerton.” Season 4 of the groundbreaking regency romance premieres on January 29. Made with decadent almond buttercream, raspberry-rose jam, and honey sponge cake, Queen Charlotte Sponge Cake is tinted a gorgeous shade of lavender. Please note that streaming options may differ from these home video presentations in terms of visuals, supplemental features, etc. “Infinite Summer” * (2024, Indiepix Films) Summer, for Mia (Teele Kaljuvee-O’Brock), was supposed to be about carefree fun with friends Grete (Johanna-Aurelia Rosin) and Sarah (Hannah Gross), partying, and casual hookups via the latest dating app. But when things don’t go according to plan, Mia chooses to succumb to the attentions of nebbishy Ivo, a.k.a. Dr Mindfulness, who introduces her to Eleusis, a mood-altering device (much like a gas mask) that promises a transcendental experience. What it delivers is something like a Lovecraftian cloud configuration into which users — like Grete and Sarah — are transformed and delivered, albeit not for the better. As with director Miguel Llanso’s previous films (“Jesus Shows You The Way to the Highway“), clarity of message is backburnered in favor of a psychedelic visual palette of benevolent AI characters and menacing vapors, but the Estonian-Spanish-produced “Infinite Summer” feels less like its predecessors’ gassy goofiness and more rooted in something like a theme (coming of age in extremis), even when it dovetails into a investigation of a local zoo by weirdo Feds. IndiePix’s DVD includes Llanso’s equally mind-expanding 2015 short “Night in the Wild Garden.” Continue reading → Posted in Movies | Tagged Arrow Video, Indiepix Films, Kino Lorber, Troma Films, Unearthed Films | Leave a comment watt’s picture of the week – tudesday, january 20, 2026 Posted on January 20, 2026 by Mike Watt a window belonging to the building where the fishing boats here in pedro bring their catches. photo by mike watt – – – – – mike watt’s hoot page Posted in Photo Essays | Tagged Archetecture, boats, Buildings, fishing, Fishing Boats, Mike Watt, San Pedro | Leave a comment watt’s picture of the week – monday, january 11, 2026 Posted on January 12, 2026 by Mike Watt no caption required? photo by mike watt – – – – – mike watt’s hoot page Posted in Photo Essays | Tagged 2026, Dave Arian, Dave Arian Way, ilwu, Local 13, Longshoreman, Mike Watt, miner street, POLA, port of los angeles, San Pedro | Leave a comment Movies Till Dawn: The Wicked Go to Hell Posted on January 8, 2026 by Paul Gaita * indicates that this title is also available to rent, stream, or purchase on various platforms. Please note that streaming options may differ from these home video presentations in terms of visuals, supplemental features, etc. “Cheap Thrills” * (2013, Arrow Video) Sad sack family man Pat Healy, bemoaning the simultaneous collapse of his job and housing situation, drowns his sorrows at a local dive bar, where he stumbles into an ugly game of can-you-top-this, with loose cannon frenemy Ethan Embry as his primary challenger and gleefully amoral enabler David Koechner setting the bar very low with wads of cash and a warped mind. Coal-black comedy of horrors from director E.L. Katz (“The Haunting of Bly Manor”) and co-writer Trent Haaga (“Deadgirl”) stretches the premise of Roald Dahl’s “Man from the South” (which is explicitly cited in one of Koechner’s gorier challenges) to feature length; the expansion renders the already-thin characters opaque, but the one-upmanship reaches some particularly amusing/gross depths and the three leads committed to their characters’ personal lows (though Sarah Paxton — Healy’s co-star in Ti West’s underrated “Innkeepers” — is given little to do as Koechner’s seemingly zombified wife). Arrow’s Limited Edition Blu-ray pairs archival making-of featurettes and Katz and Healy’s commentary with a new track by writer Alexandra Heller-Nicholas and new interviews with the filmmakers and cast.
