All About Cars & GadgetsIntroductionManila, Philippines. 4.21.17 – This is our friend Mark’s car and the following article is his experience in modifying the car to make it into a track/fun-run car. Most people turn to forced induction, like turbochargers or superchargers, when looking to increase the power in their cars. Although, forced induction is the quickest and least expensive path to added power, some guys aren’t too fond of the manner in which power is delivered with such systems. Turbo lag and the non-linear power delivery which makes the car less predictable and more difficult to drive especially on twisty roads. Other enthusiasts, like Mark, prefer the more predictable and linear power delivery of naturally aspirated engines. This is the story of Mark’s Miata build.I wrote an article a few months back about my miata and my urge to continually modify it to my liking.  The car got into a slight accident back in 2009 and required painting and straightening of panels on the front half of the car.  Since the miata is such a small car, I didn’t hesitate to get the entire car re-painted from the original Montego Blue color to a Midnight blue metallic. But before that, we seam-welded the chassis and added braces under the car and also a custom roll bar up top.   The new midnight blue color was a lot darker than what I wanted, almost like black.  I couldn’t afford another re-spray so I told myself to just live with it till next time.   BC Coil-over suspension was added to improve handling as well as a Mazdaspeed 4.3:1 LSD.Retro power!I was now ready to take on the challenge of adding power to the car.  I was totally in love with the look of twin DCOE Webers and the sound it made at wide open throttle.  I thought “I could make this work on the cheap!” It also seemed feasible since I’m friends with Weber experts and they themselves assured me they can make it work well.   So I bought a pair of used Weber DCOE 40’s with the intention of adapting it to the miata B6 engine.  While I studied the required steps for this build, it found a temporary home in my den.Such was my love for that retro-mechanical look.Continue reading 4-Throttle Miata Project→;
