San Francisco Travel Advisor March 28, 2013 One more post and one more blog! In my personal travel blog I try to explain what is going on with me in the evolution of my travel career. It does look like I tend to gravitate to this blog when change is afoot! Right now, three and one-half years after I made the leap into the world of travel, it looks like yet one more opportunity has presented itself that will allow me to focus 100% on travel and grow my business even more! With luck, I will be joining a team downtown and continue to service my clients as well as learn and grow with a completely different travel model than I am used to. I will still be focussing on luxury travel and I will continue to travel to become the expert that you will seek out. Since my last post, I’ve returned to Hawaii (I’ve now been to all of the major islands!) and finally realized my dream to visit South Africa. South Africa was amazing! For those of you who have found this online diary, but are interested in contacting me as a travel consultant, feel free to email me at travelwithjsb@gmail.com. Also, check out my website (also powered by WordPress!) at http://www.johnstewartbowerman.com. You can also contact me at 415-509-5846. I am happy to be a travel agent, a travel advisor, and a travel consultant. I specialize in South Africa Travel, Australia Travel, Panama Travel, South America Travel, and travel to Europe. So if you need a travel agent specializing in these areas, please feel free to reach out and give me a call and email. Additionally, if you would like to see photographs of my travels, feel free to “like” my Facebook page: John Stewart Bowerman Travel. Posted in Uncategorized | Leave a Comment » Excitement Around the Corner February 25, 2012 Well, here I am on a Friday night and it looks like my travel career has the opportunity to jump to the next level. Some say I was crazy to jump into the world of international travel when the economy was in the doldrums, but times are changing and people are once again traveling. Next week I have the chance to interview for a company that specialize in around the world travel that is located right here in San Francisco, so, hopefully, this gives me the opportunity to take my travel career to the next level. Fingers crossed, but something tells me this could be a turning point. Also, I am starting to help out return clients on an independent basis. Seems like my customer retention skills are very Sally Field i.e. – you really like me! Sounds a little self-involved but makes me happy. I can even go to my part-time job tomorrow with a little spring in my step. Happy to inch closer to a full-time travel gig and realize my dream of making it in this industry. So this blog continues to evolve albeit slowly. Today’s blog is about my personal travel career. If anyone picks this up and wants to know a little bit more about where I’ve travelled of late, check me out on Facebook at John Stewart Bowerman Travel and hit “like.” Gorgeous day in San Francisco! Good things happen to me when the temperature hits north of 70 degrees F! Happy travels, people! It’s wine o’clock! Posted in Uncategorized | Leave a Comment » Ay yie yie! January 10, 2012 So fast forward to my second blog posintg in as many years. I feel I should be a bit more disciplined in my postings. Just a sneaking suspicion lingering way – WAY – in the background. SO far, in fact, that it is easy to ignore. For two years. This career has not YET brought me to Africa again, but I have been to Tasmania and Spain’s northern coast. So all is not lost. In fact, those were life altering trips. I’ll shoot for Africa, but I think while I spend time in town I will practice on a destination I know very well: San Francisco. So, for those who are interested, get ready for a local take by a local through the eyes of a traveller who roams the world in search of eco-adventures and design and, occasionally, a luxurious experience to write home about. Tags: San Francisco Travel Posted in Uncategorized | Leave a Comment » Why Travel? September 19, 2009 This is my first post at my wordpress blog. I thought I would blend some of my past freelance writing skills into my current endeavor and see if I can attract some interest including fellow travelers and, maybe, future clients. First and foremost, I am hesitant to label anyone a client. I find that I am most successful in treating anyone with respect without pre-conceived notions. I am going to trust my gut on this one. When skiing in Whistler, British Columbia, my friend, Ken Neibaur, called me to ask it I would be interested in accompanying him on a travel agent familiarization tour of Vietnam. I was just about to change branches at my recruiting job and thought it a bit of a risk, seeing that the trip would be 16 days away from my desk. As a recruiter it seems you are always tied to a telephone, and it was difficult to see being away from my desk – again – for so long. I was in BC for 9 days after all. True to form: it was travel, so I did it anyway. Good choice. I met some fascinating travel agents, and I began thinking about the possibility of me changing careers. Needless to say, Vietnam was a phenomenal experience and my time there with all of the travel agents form around the country certainly influenced my thinking. When the economy took a dive and I found myself out of a job, I immediately went and visited my sisters in Australia for a month. Imagine that: travel. Upon my return, I went skiing. Then I went traveling to the East Coast. After 7 (count ’em: 7) months’ down (down with travel, that is,) I thought I should get on with things and my mind came back to travel and the seed that had been planted over a year prior in Vietnam. I called my friend, Ken, and I took a leap. That led me to my current gig. Let’s see where this takes me. I mean this metaphorically, but I hope and envision it takes me back to Africa. More to come!
