Her curiosity for GLAM began with marvelling the dinosaur fossils at the Peabody Museum in New Haven, CT, wandering the galleries of the Wadsworth, Atheneum in Hartford, CT, and basking in the old book smell at her hometown public library. Throughout her university career, she has fostered her fascination for culture and museums in her research, particularly in connection with identity. Via this blog she wants to continue experimenting with participatory engagement methods in an online setting and exploring how digital platforms and social media can extend the museum beyonds its four walls.Why “instaGLAM”?With the rise of events and tours targeted at Instagrammers and Bloggers in museums, I realized that digital innovations have made even more apparent that the museum is an experience — an experience that we want to document and share with everyone and make part of our story. Additionally, instagramming in GLAM institutions illustrates the change within this sector of experts working with users. This shift absolutely fascinates me and fuels my curiosity to dive deeper into the topic and, ultimately, contribute my own projects to help develop a more inclusive, engaged cultural community.
