Experience the power of customer reviews*STAY CLEAR* has gone bankrupt with my 5k deposit. This is an exact copy of my formal demand for a refund. Con. 14th January 2026 For the attention of: Mr George Jason Parrant, Director Dear Mr Parrant, FORMAL DEMAND FOR REFUND I am writing to formally demand a refund and delivery of goods in relation to the automated gate works commissioned from GD Automations (trading as George Doors Automations Ltd). On 8 September 2025, I paid a deposit of £5,251, representing 50% of the agreed contract value, following our initial engagement on 22 August 2025 for the supply and installation of a timber automated sliding gate. At the outset, you confirmed in writing: “We can definitely help you with all the ground works + installation, lead times for the gate including automation 6 to 8 weeks however we can help you get all of the first fix done which would speed things up.” On this basis, we agreed on the styling of a timber gate and I relied on your company to design, manufacture, and install a product consistent with this agreement. Throughout the following months, I repeatedly requested updates and photographs of the gate, none of which were provided until late November. On 12 October 2025, following my request for an update, you advised: “Yes what day do you need us? We were ready for the first week of October as originally planned. I will get an update regarding the gate not heard anything, but I'm sure it's nearly ready.” Despite this, on 22 October 2025, you advised for the first time that you could not provide a timber gate with any guarantee and proposed a steel-framed alternative. I expressed my frustration at this extremely late communication but agreed to proceed only on the strict condition that the gate would visually present as timber, and allowed steel ‘structural’ support. On 25 November 2025, I was advised of a further delay to installation until Monday 1 December. On Sunday 30 November, I received my first images of the manufactured gates and due to the hesitation, I attended your workshop for an in-person inspection. The gates were wholly unacceptable for the following reasons (images attached): - They were predominantly steel manufactured, not timber - The paint colour was incorrect - Welds were visibly poor and unfinished despite painting having already taken place - The proposed “timber” elements were faux wood panels, not real timber I subsequently confirmed with our planning consultant that the manufactured gates would not be accepted by Dorset Council Planning, as our approval explicitly requires timber gates. Throughout the process, I provided numerous reference examples of the timber gate style we liked and required. What was manufactured does not reasonably resemble what was agreed. Over the four-month period, you conducted several site visits; however, there were also multiple no-shows and difficulty getting answers on your first fix requirements for my landscaper to proceed and ensure the site is ready for install. You have claimed that “first fix” works were completed. In reality, these consisted of: - Placing an RSJ supplied by you on loose bricks, later concreted and paved by my landscaper - Setting out and mortaring an initial run of eight bricks for a pier, of which were not square, and my bricklayer had to subsequently correct this on the next run - Drilling two holes and feeding two cables through brickwork Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, services must be carried out with reasonable care and skill and must conform to the agreed description. The gate supplied was not as described, not fit for purpose, and not compliant with our planning approval requirement. Because of these issues I have no further confidence in your ability to supply what we require with due care and skill, in accordance with Consumer Rights Act 2015. I am not prepared to bear the cost of time or materials invested in a gate that was not what I ordered. If any portion of my deposit is retained in respect of manufacture, ownership of the manufactured gate must transfer to me in full. You have agreed to return £2,500. I accept this amount as an absolute minimum, without prejudice to my right to pursue recovery of the full deposit. I hereby formally require: 1. Payment of your agreed sum of £2,500 to my bank account (details previously supplied); and 2. Delivery of the manufactured gate to my property, at your expense (or an adjusted settlement figure). Both to be completed within 14 days of the date of this letter. I understand this to be a fair figure to terminate our contract, in favor of you. If payment and delivery are not completed within this timeframe, I reserve all rights to pursue recovery of the full outstanding amount, together with any associated costs, through formal legal action, without further notice.;
